Telecom Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched the CEIR Portal web portal ceir.gov.in for the report of phone theft. The central government has made a new Central Device Identification Register (CEIR) service available on ceir.gov.in to report phone theft.

With this new CEIR portal of the government, now all those people whose mobile is stolen or roam, can easily register their complaint and this method is very easy, you just have to go online and fill the registration form and the portal The biggest feature of this is that you can block your mobile so that your important data is not stolen.

If your mobile is stolen or lost, you will have to register the complaint on the CEIR Portal official website and notify C-DOT through helpline number 14422.

Thus, the central government will now help in finding and blocking your lost or stolen mobile phone through IMEI verification. Presently this scheme is only for Delhi and Maharashtra but according to the central government, this scheme will be implemented soon across the country.

With the aim of curbing the fake mobile phone market and discouraging mobile phone theft, protecting consumer interest and facilitating law enforcement officers to streamline law and order, DoT intends to use IMEI database of all mobile operators The joining is to implement the Central Device Identification Registry (CEIR).

How to block your phone online through CEIR Portal

  • File a report with the police, and keep a copy of the report.
  • Get a duplicate SIM card for the lost number from your telecom service provider (Airtel, Jio, Voda / Idea, BSNL, etc.).
  • Prepare your documents – A copy of the police report and identity proof must be provided. You can also provide a mobile purchase invoice.

  • To unblock your discovered mobile you have to go to CEIR official website https://ceir.gov.in/
  • Now go to the “CEIR Services” option available in the menu bar of the open page.
  • A drop-down list will appear on the screen from where you have to select the option “Un-Block found mobile”
  • A new page appears with the form where you have to enter details such as request ID, mobile number that you provide while blocking, a reason for unblocking and mobile number for OTP.

  • Enter OTP and click “Submit” option to submit request

How CEIR Portal Helps in Finding a Stolen Phone

  • First of all, the person whose mobile phone is lost or stolen will have to register an FIR at the nearest police station.
  • After this, the person has to inform the DoT through helpline number 14422.
  • After the police complaint, DoT (DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS) will blacklist the IMEI number. This will block the handset to access any mobile network in the future.

  1. my phone was nicked on 07 12 21. I was able to get on to this website , however it does not work. Earlier it could not generate an OTP.
    Last night I could not get the pull down menu for state, district etc. and the mobile brand as well.
    If I proceed, the request is shown as ‘null’ and does not proceed any further. Its a poorly designed site. OTP count down is shown in minutes whereas it is in seconds.. Horrible it is.
    I got contact number as 97245 880** by google assistant. This doesn’t exist.
    I wish to complain about this poor quality of service. There is no contact number for C-DOT who claim that they have designed this website.
    Are we into serious problem solving or just an eyewash,?
    305,000 people visited your site but how many got answers?

  2. CAN I USE THESE SERVICES FROM SOUTH AFRICA ? I LOST MY PHONE SINCE OCTOBER LAST YEAR. THOUGH IT’S A INDIAN PHONE M01. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ON HOW TO FIND MY INDIAN PHONE BACK.
