Under the new Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana, the Haryana state government will provide an incentive amount of Rs 7000 per acre to farmers to switch from paddy. This water conservation initiative will also protect against the depletion of natural resources like water and soil. The state is currently producing around 68 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of paddy and 25 LMT of Basmati. The Haryana government has recently transferred the first installment of incentives at the rate of Rs 2,000 per acre, directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiary farmers, with a total payment of Rs 10.21 crore to the farmers under the scheme.

To register on Mera Pani Meri Virasat Portal, farmers have to apply for Mera Pani Meri Virasat Scheme through the official portal of the scheme using the procedure given below:

Eligibility for Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana

If any of you want to apply online for Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana, then for that you have to fulfill the eligibility of the scheme which are as follows:

  • Farmers will have to diversify at least 50% of their paddy cultivated last year.
  • The farmer should be a permanent resident of Haryana.
  • All those farmers who are operating their tubewell with 50 hp electric motor will not be allowed to grow paddy.
  • Farmers should have their Aadhaar number and an active bank account number linked to Aadhaar.

Mera Pani Meri Virasat Scheme Guidelines

  • Farmers need to diversify at least 50% of their previous year’s paddy area by growing alternate crops (maize/cotton/bajra/pulses) in 8 blocks.
  • 7000/- per acre will be provided to the farmers in lieu of diversification of paddy to other crops.
  • For these blocks, farmers will not be allowed to cultivate paddy in any new areas where paddy was not grown during the previous year.
  • Only those farmers will be eligible to get the financial benefit per acre who have diversified at least 50% of their paddy area of ​​the last Kharif season (2021-22).
  • In the agricultural land of gram panchayats in different blocks, the panchayats will not allow paddy to be grown in their land. Financial benefits will be provided to the respective Panchayats in exchange for diversification from paddy to other alternative crops.
  • All those farmers who are operating their tubewell with 50 hp electric motor will not be allowed to grow paddy.
  • Farmers who have less than 50% of their previous year’s paddy in blocks (RATIA, SIWAN, GUHLA, PIPLI, SHAHBAD, BABAIN, ISMAILABAD, and SIRSA diversified) will not be eligible to avail any subsidy from Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Department.
  • All miscellaneous crops like maize/bajra/pulses will be procured by the government. on MSP.
  • The government will install “maize dryers” in the respective grain markets to reduce the moisture content of the maize grains produced by the farmers.
  • 85% subsidy will be provided for setting up of drip irrigation system in alternate diversified crops.
  • The department will promote mechanization by providing a pneumatic/common maize seeder for sowing of maize crop in targeted blocks for diversification of paddy through its schemes and CHCs.
  • Various pieces of information will be provided about the implementation of crop diversification program through IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities in the field for the awareness of farmers. A dedicated web portal will also be launched for the convenience of the farmers.
  • “Demonstration plots” will be set up in each targeted block to show the farmers the best farming practices for better yields of their crops.
  • Farmers are other than the targeted 8 nos. They will also be eligible to avail benefits under this crop diversification scheme if they replace their paddy area with alternative crops.
  • Such farmers will have to submit application and details of revenue records regarding the cultivation of paddy for various areas during the previous year and subject to the condition that they have not grown paddy on any new land where paddy was not grown earlier.

CM Manohar Lal Khattar has urged the farmers to sow crops that require less water as compared to paddy. Farmers can now grow crops like maize, tur, urad, cotton, bajra, sesame, and moong (Baisakhi moong). These crops will save water and ensure the availability of water for the coming generations as well. Haryana government is already giving 80% subsidy to those farmers who have adopted micro-irrigation and drip irrigation systems along with growing alternative crops in place of paddy.
