It is suggested that the central government should ask all the state government to distribute free food items and food grains to people without ID card / ration card . This step should be implemented and implemented as soon as possible keeping in mind the unprecedented situation. Progress of Garib Kalyan scheme so far
To ensure that the weaker sections of the society continue to get Aadhaar facilities and are not affected during the lock down period due to COVID 19, the Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman announced Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand crore on 26 March 2020. Under the Garib Kalyan Yojana ( PMGK Y).
As on 13 April 2020, 32.32 crore beneficiaries have been given cash assistance of Rs 29,352 crore under the Direct Package through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Garib Kalyan Package Progress so far:
- Under the Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Package, over 32 crore poor received financial assistance of Rs 29,352 crore.
- Free food grains distributed to 5.29 crore beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana
- So far 97.8 lakh free Ujjwala cylinders have been given under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
- 2.1 lakh members of EPFO availed online withdrawal of non-refundable advance from EPF account, amounting to Rs 510 crores.
- Around Rs 1400 crore distributed to 2.82 crore old people, widows and disabled persons
- New installment of PM Kisan Yojana: Rs 14,946 crore direct transfers to 7.47 crore farmers account
- Rs 9930 crore sent to 19.86 crore Jan Dhan account of women account holders
- 2.17 crore building and construction workers received financial assistance of Rs. 3071 crore.
