Uttarakhand Free Electricity Yojana 2021
This Uttarakhand Free Electricity Scheme 2021 is being started by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand state, Pushkar Singh Dhami. Under this scheme, the state government will provide 100 units of free electricity every month to the domestic consumers and in addition, the consumers using 101 to 200 units per month will be given a 50 percent discount on the bill. Cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat, who was given additional charge of power and renewable energy in the state on 7 July 2021, made the announcement soon after a meeting of senior officials of the department. Due to this scheme of the Uttarakhand state government, about 13 lakh consumers of the state will be benefited.
Objective of Uttarakhand Free Electricity Scheme
The main objective behind the implementation of this Uttarakhand Free Electricity Yojana 2021 of the state government is to offer electricity to the poor people at low rates. Once the scheme is implemented, the people of the state do not have to worry about paying huge bills, as long as the electricity is within their consumption limits, they will be able to enjoy this free electricity scheme. Estimates of the state government show that if the scheme is successfully implemented, at least 13 lakh people in the state will get the benefit of bill rates.

Harak Singh Rawat told about the cost of the scheme that it will cost the state exchequer about ₹ 400 to 500 crore annually, but it will provide relief to a large section of the state’s population. Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), a Government of Uttarakhand undertaking, is the sole distributor of electricity in the state. UPCL is presently supplying electricity to more than 25 lakh consumers across the state.
