Atal School Vardi Yojana 2021, under which free school uniform will be provided to students of all government-run schools in the state by the Himachal Pradesh government
The scheme has already been approved by the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet. The government’s Free Uniform Yojana (Atal School Vardi Yojana) will be implemented across the state for the financial year 2018-19 to 2020-21.
This scheme will go a long way in boosting confidence in children from poor families. Free Uniform Yojana was named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as he had a special love for the hill people.
HP Atal School Vardi Yojana 2021
Himachal Pradesh Government of launched Atal School Vardi Yojana for students in all state run schools. Under this free uniform scheme, all the students of first to 12th standard will get these free uniforms.
Students are provided with Free School Uniform for FY 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21. In the Atal Uniform Scheme 2018-19, around 8,30,945 students of classes 1-12 received 2 sets of free school uniforms with an outlay of Rs 73.5 crore.
Under Atal School Vardi Yojana , in addition to two uniforms in a year, school bags are also being provided to first, sixth and 9th grade students. As of 26 August 2020, about 2,56,514 students of classes 1, 6 and 9 had received school bags with an estimated expenditure of Rs 7.84 crore.
The Government of Himachal Pradesh had already started the procurement, supply, and distribution of school uniforms to the first to 12th-grade school students under the Atal School Vardi Yojana. These uniforms are being offered to students in state schools for the year 2020-21 through Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation.

HP Atal School Vardi Yojana Registration
Currently, there is no online process to apply for this scheme, the government has not started any official website for it.
Right now all eligible students can apply for the Atal Uniform Scheme through their school to get the benefit of this scheme.
However, the state government will also set up the CM’s helpline number to actively contact the citizens and facilitate them through helpline centers.
This is to ensure a transparent and accountable system where roles and responsibilities are defined for each stakeholder.
Bank account for Atal School Vardi Scheme
If the students of government schools are to avail of the Atal Vardi Scheme, they will have to open accounts in the bank. Under this Atal Uniform Scheme, the money that students receive for uniform tailoring will be deposited directly into the students’ accounts by the government.
For this, it is mandatory for the students to have an account in the bank, if a student does not have an account in the bank, then he / she will not be considered eligible to receive benefits under this scheme.
Earlier this amount was made available for the same sewing budget according to the number of students. After this, the education department used to transfer the amount of uniform stitching to the students through the school staff, but this will not happen now, now the beneficiary will have to open his account to get the benefit, now this amount will come directly to the account.
Atal School Vardi Yojana Eligibility Criteria
- Only the residents of Himachal will get the benefit of the scheme.
- The applicant should be from a poor family.
- Applicant should be a student or student of any government school in the state.

Progress Of The Scheme
As we have told you earlier, about 8.3 lakh students of classes 1-12 had already received 2 sets of free school uniforms worth Rs 73.5 crore in 2018-19. Besides, around 2.5 lakh students of class 1, 6, 9 had already received bags worth Rs 7.84 crore.
It was decided to implement Atal School Vardi Yojana in a cabinet meeting held in Dharamshala under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. The objective of the Atal Uniform Scheme is to provide uniform uniform among the students in classrooms irrespective of their economic status.
