Components of PM Asha Scheme
Following are some of the main components of PM Asha Yojana:
1. Price Support Scheme – Price Support Scheme (PSS)
Central nodal agencies in collaboration with the state government will procure pulses and oilseeds through the Price Support Scheme. The Food Corporation of India will set up the PSS with Nafed, and the Central Government will bear any expenses, besides the expenses incurred on procurement under the scheme and the losses incurred during procurement as per the Union Government norms.
2. Price Deficiency Payment Scheme – Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS)
All oilseeds notified for SP have been included in this scheme. The difference between the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and hence the price is being paid directly to the registered farmers. All payments are made to the farmer’s registered checking account. In other words, there will be no procurement but the farmers will be paid the difference between the MSP and the terms.
3. Pilot of Private Procurement & Stockist Scheme – Private Procurement & Stockist Pilot Scheme (PPPS)
As per the Pilot of Private Procurement and Stockist Scheme (PPPS), the private sector will participate in procurement operations. The State Governments will have the option to implement the scheme on a pilot basis in the selected APMCs with the participation of the private sector.
